DTCC’s Hayco leads 8 Cebuanos in Tokyo dancefest

CEBU, Philippines — Eight members of Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC) will showcase their wares in the Asian World Dancesport Festival 2018 on July 16 in Tokyo, Japan.

Leading the team are veteran dancers, DTCC directress Eleanor Hayco and Anselmo Estillore Jr., who will see action in the Asian Senior Latin Championship category.

They will be joined by Philippine National Games (PNG) 2018 medallists Wilbert Aunzo, Pearl Marie Cañeda, Jeffrey Ruben Benarao, Noelyn Mie Pedrano, John Paul Mocorro and Mary Joy Dumosmog.

“We are working very hard each day and we’ve had a rigorous training as our preparation for this event because this is considered as one of the biggest dancesport competitions in Asia. So we really need to prepare. Though we are not really confident to win because there are dancesport superstars from different countries who will also be competing, yet we will make sure to showcase a good performance and we will give our best in the competition,” said Benarao.

DTCC secretary Jenette Flores said competing in Japan is also an opportunity for the team to invite international participants in the upcoming World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Cebu Open 2018 on September 8.

“This is also our way to invite participants from other countries to join the WDSF competition here in our city, which will be hosted by the DTCC. That’s what we did last year when we competed in other countries, we invite those teams we met because it’s hard to invite international participants so we used this an opportunity to do so,” said Flores.
