Top athletes join World DanceSport Competition set Saturday in Cebu

Top athletes around the world are expected to join the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Cebu Open 2018 and 10th Dancesport Sa Sugbu that will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino on September 8, 2018.
Foremost among them are Timur Imametdinov and Nina Bezzubova of Germany who are ranked among the top three Dancesport athletes in the world.  Their most recent wins include Champions in the Adult Latin category in Krasnodar, Russia in April 14, 2018; Champions in the Adult Latin category in Berlin, Germany in April 1, 2018; Champions and in the Adult Latin category in Cambrils, Spain in March 31, 2018.
Also joining the Cebu Open are Australian athletes Barden Brodie and Lana Skrgic-de Fonseka, and Chris Boon and Dale Zhao.  Barden Brodie and Lana Skrgic-de Fonseka won second over-all in the Ten Dance Adult category of the Mellieha, Malta Open in March 3, 2018 and won second over-all in the Standard Adult category during their stint here in Cebu for the World Open last September 10, 2016.
Among the Asian athletes are Japan’s Hideaki Kishi and Shiho Tanaka, Ohkubo Toshiya and Yoshimura Haruka, and Mashshi Sato and Mikki Toyuyama; Korea’s Hochng Lee and Yerim Oh, Jongmiin Park and Jisu Kim; Vietnam’s Nguyen Mich Truang Doon and Nguyen Nha Uyen Trang.
Interesting to note are the entry of athletes from Mongolia, Ganbahtar Temuuleon and Buyandelger, Enkhjargal and Munkhbasren Byambascren, Gabaajar Bilguun and Tsatsral Inkhjin, Bayanunich Bazarsad and Enkhee Anujin, Ganchululun Tengis and Badagerel Solonggo.
There are over 600 athletes set to converge with DanceSport athletes from the Philippines coming from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.  The WDSF Cebu Open 2018 and 10th Dancesport Sa Sugbu cover 19 categories that include two special categories include the University / School Teacher & Student Event and the Corporate Event.  The University category is organized by the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. or CESAFI.
Other categories are as follows: Juvenile 3 (11 years old and below) Closed Syllabus, Juvenile 5 (11 years old and below) Closed Syllabus, Junior 3 (between 12 years old to 15 years old), Junior 5 (between 12 years old to 15 years old), Youth 3 (between 16 years old to 18 years old), Youth 5 (between 16 years old to 18 years old), Special Event I-3 Dance (student must be 39 years old and below), Special Event II-3 Dance (student must be 40 years old and above), Special Event II-4 Dance (student must be 40 years old and above), Special Event II-5 Dance (student must be 40 years old and above), Senior I-3 Dance (one partner must be 35 years old and the other 30 years old), Senior I-5 Dance (one partner must be 35 years old and the other 30 years old), Senior II-2 Dance (one partner must be 45 years old and the other 40 years old),  Adult 3 Dance, Adult 4 Dance, ADSF Asian Open and WDSF Open.  Each category includes the Latin and Standard disciplines.  The Latin Discipline covers ChaChaCha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive whereas the Standard Discipline covers the Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep.
